Hi Gaielle

I found your blog after seeing your comment on the F500 site.

Well done for getting this list going - it’s great to see the videos all in one place.

I have just completed my very first video this evening and have uploaded it to YouTube:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OeIt6MOANq0

I haven’t managed to embed it in my blog yet - a job for tomorrow as it is now well past my bedtime!

I noted your comment about changing the URL on the YouTube details - I’d like to do that but I don’t know how. Could you let me know how to do it please?

Anyay it is great to see this list.

I shall come back to view tomorrow when I can enjoy them.

Hilary

Hi Gaille -

Thanks for putting up the F500 competition videos on your blog. Please would you also add mine? The YouTube URL is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGlte6kGEmo

BTW - A fantastic plug-in I found since getting the video bug, is the Smart YouTube plug-in if you don’t have it. You just need to insert the YouTube URL into a post (type it in the text) by adding a v after the http bit:
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGlte6kGEmo
and that’s it! No messing about with HTML etc!

And thanks for reminding me to link the YouTube stuff to my blog - I don’t think I did that! Oops! How did I miss that?!

Cheers!

Susan

Hi Gaielle,
Thanks for watching my first video. I am a complete newbie to this stuff. please can you tell me how I can put writing on the actual video itself and also can you walk me through where you said to put my URL site. I would advise that you put your blog address at the beginning of the “more info” box on YouTube so it can be seen while people are watching your video . I did what you said but this is how it looks.

Hi John, I’m pretty new to video making too, but I have learned a few things. To answer to the first question about putting text on your video. Firstly, you will need an editing program. If you use a PC, it probably has Windows Movie Maker. I use a Mac and I have iMovie which is similar. If you don’t have a movie editing program you can download free ones from the internet. Just do a google search on “movie editing programs free downloads” and you’ll find Windows Movie Maker for XP. You need to open your video in the program and follow the instructions. I’d also suggest that you search on YouTube for “how to add text to your videos”. There are a few tutorials there.

Second question about adding your URL in your “more info” box. Log in to YouTube and on the top line, click on “Account” which will take you to your personal page. (Have a good look around in there, as you can get lots of great info.) In the column headed “My Videos” click on “Uploaded Videos” which displays all you videos. If you only have one, just click the tab at the bottom called “Edit” and you’ll be taken to the details. In the “Description” section insert your URL (blog address) before any of the other text. Click the “Save Changes” box at the top or the bottom of the page and that’s it!

I hope this helps. Just take it all at your own pace. I’m still looking for traffic  generation methods.

As I find good ones, I’ll be posting them on my blog.

Talk soon,

Gaielle

Hi Hilary! John B had a similar question, which I answered in this thread. I hope it helps. Let me know if you have any probs. I have a few more videos to add but I’ll need to start a third page, so it may take a little time (I can only fit 22 videos per page.)

All the best and congrats on making your video.

Gaielle.

Hi Gaielle,

I’m wondering how to pronounce your name. Would that be like Gail?

Your blog is amazing. I love the way your topics are setup and I noticed there’s a way to listen to the post. I haven’t tried it yet because I’m listening to a meeting as I’m reviewing your site.

To be honest, your site is more interesting then what’s going into my ears.

Thanks for adding all the videos to your blog. I didn’t even know I was missing my blog link but I did correct it on youtube.

Your video is coooool!

Thanks for all the work you put in to getting our videos listed here.

Hi Gaielle!

Finally made it to your blog :). . hey great job on compiling all the videos in one place - excellent work, and thanks for including mine :)

Really like the clean bold look of your blog.

and like the 3 big buttons to DIGG, STUMBLE and DELICIOUS tags at the top :). is that part of your theme, or a plugin? as I would love to have something as simple as that :)

Cheers,

Derrick

Hi Gaielle,

Juts though I’d pop over and see if you managed to get the videos up. I see you located a few more that I didn’t know about. There’s a few on your list though that aren’t competition entries – just informational or tutorial type stuff from a few of the students, but to be honest it doesn’t really matter as it’s great to see all the videos students have produced in one place.

Hey, like I posted on my own blog, your own video was great. Very creative and cleverly marketed. And you got your daughter in on the act too, well done and highly amusing. I wish you all the best in the competition.

Hey, I’ve just notice on your Blog, in the top right you have OVER 28,000 subscribers to your RSS feed. Woooooa.

What have you done to get that? My last check for my site I had about 50 if I recall correctly. Tell me how you did it. I think we all need to do whatever you did, LOL.

Hi Garry. You blow me away with the stuuf you do. You are a living dynamo. I’m plodding along at a much slower pace, but I’ve had some tangents happening. I have all these ideas & I’m really excited. But I now need to focus on the journey & get some traffic happening. I thankyou for the PPP, which I’ll read when I get up tomorrow.

Re the content of some of the videos, I understood that it really didn’t matter about the topic or content of the video, as long as the 4 rules were applied. Name, blog name, Alex’s name & marketingwithyou.com. I put up the ones (after some research) that displayed or mentioned those things. If someone missed one rule, I put it up anyway.

It’s so great to get an insight to many of the group through their ideas & concepts. I also popped over & joined the F500 forum the other day & it’s nice to share. About the RSS feeds - It’s all BS! The number was already there on the template - it’s a picture! Haha! Looks good! I don’t know how to activate the real thing, although the RSS does actually work.  I’m on a steep learning cliff.

Glad you enjoyed the video. Next one ought to be better quality. I’m learning.

Cheers,  Gaielle

Hi Derrick, Thanks, I hope I found all the videos so far. It’s not too late for entries. Still 2 weeks left. The 3 buttons at the top came with the template - one of the reasons I chose it. The template can be a bit difficult to alter at times, particularly with the built in widgets, but I’m gradually working things through. Perhaps you could do some google searching for a plugin that might do it. I rarely find what I’m looking for in the wordpress plugin search box, but there’s always something in google search. I’m really beginning to see the real power of google - not just as a search tool but a REsearch tool.

Cheers,  Gaielle :)

Gaielle

Thanks so much for this info.

I have used it and am now showing my url.

My learning curve is so steep at the moment, but I am going to keep this going. I can’t believe what I’ve learnt and done these last couple of months.

Also managed to embed my video in my blog tonight - watched the video on Ian & Becky Carter’s blog. How easy was that?

Anyway that’s a couple more things ticked off my list for today. Still lots to go though.

I’ve also added you to my blogroll.

Thanks for your help and I liked the ideo behind your video - Britney eat your heart out!

Hi Hilary,

It IS a steep learning curve for some of us. I get sidetracked and distracted and have to force myself to come back to my plan. In fact I am in the process of reviewing my plan right now. I need to generate more targetted traffic (instead of Britney fans!). Traffic is the bane of every marketers life and I am working on it. Obviously at this stage of our development, newbies are our target market. Think about what a newbie needs to know and concentrate on that, helping them get over the hurdles that we have already jumped. To stay a few steps ahead of the beginners is all we need to achieve in the steep learning curve. Stay with it Hilary. It’s great to be in a community that can help one another.

Hi Gaielle

I read your answer above to John Bullard and followed your instructions. Its laid out slightly differently in the UK but after some clicking about, I found ‘description’ and now have my url in. whoopee. So you can disregard my question in the email I sent you.

Thanks
Wendy

Hi Wendy, I hadn’t realized that countries had different versions. It’s be great to hear how it’s done for UK. It would help a lot of people on your side of the world - there are many students from UK. Would you be able to outline it here for all to see? It’s all getting pretty interesting and entertaining to see the amazing entries coming in.  Best of luck, Gaielle

Hi,

I found your blog after reading a comment on Hilary Dickinson’s site. I would like to congratulate all the students who have been able to get a video on you tube. Does anyone have a list of all the 500 students?

Hi Christine, It would be wonderful to get a complete list of the 500 students. I believe Garry Parkes has around 300. It’s a bit difficult to oil rig hop if we don’t know where to look. There are a few groups like JVvillage and Fortunate500 on ning. It’s great place to communicate with other members. Cheers, Gaielle
